InScribe
InScribe from Saqqara Technology is the popular Word Processor for Egyptian Hieroglyphs introduced in 1994. With an extended and improved hieroglyphic font and a faster and more flexible user interface, InScribe remains the only comprehensive software for Egyptian Hieroglyphs interoperable with word processing software such as Microsoft Word, WordPerfect, and OpenOffice/StarOffice Writer. Windows 7, Vista, or XP required.
InScribe users range from amateur and academic students of Egyptology through to professional Egyptologists and Historians. Applications range from personal use through to thesis writing, academic publications and professionally typeset books.

The InScribe landscape is changing. InScribe 2004 is still being supplied with new orders but this will shortly be replaced by the Second Edition InScribe 2004SE (July/August 2009). InScribeX Web will open up many new aspects of working with Egyptian and hieroglyphs and a 'technical preview' is already available on www.inscribex.com for those who would like to experiment with Unicode or use the English-Egyptian and Egyptian-English dictionaries.
After 2004SE, the next major version is InScribe 3, to follow later in the year. InScribe 3 can be used alongside 2004SE, it is not an either/or. New customers and current members of the InScribe Beta Program are entitled to upgrades to InScribe 2004SE and InScribe 3 as they become available and will have the opportunity to try some pre-release materials.
